Soon meaning "a few weeks" is soon in the grand scheme of things. We had quite bad experiences with giving any form of time estimate here on the forum, in fact we had already learned our lesson once, so when under big pressure i said once for one of the patches "it will be at least two weeks and that is just an estimate not a promise". Guess what happened exactly 14 days later, on the forum apepared messages like "WE WERE PROMISED AN UPDATE TODAY, WHERE IS IT!!!" and loads of people joining in with that and saying we must be lounging around at the pub and so on. It's kind of hard to handle really when you're working late nights nearly every day, so that was the last time we gave a time estimate.
All i can do is say what there is to do, at the moment i'm making some changes to the single player replays, making them have unlimited length, this is because there are some very long track configurations in the S1 release (along with many shorter ones as well) and it appeared as a "bug" to me that the video was running out after 3 long laps.
After that i'll be doing the user authentication system and we might be able to release a patch which allows a host to specify S1 licensed racers only, which would be useful for banning systems, no more wreckers! After that it's the track unlocking systems and codewise we should be nearly there.
As Seamus says, there aren't going to be many new code features in the S1 version, bear in mind that most "small" features seem to take a whole week to do, even really small ones seem to take a whole day by the time they are tested in all situations and the bugs are ironed out, so it would be a really bad idea to start adding things now. A damage system would take months probably so that certainly won't be in there either!
I'm looking forward to getting S1 out, so that shortly after that, more development for the future can be started, in fact more interesting and variable suspension and tyres and fuel usage will probably come before body damage.
All plans subject to change...

LECKER!!!
Da scheiss ich auf den Schaden
