Mo 12.05.03 16:34 Scawens Kommentar zum LFS Vorverkauf + Preis
|
|
Hier ein Kommentar des LFS Entwicklers Scawen Roberts aus dem RaceSimCentral Forum:
Zitat: |
Firstly - thanks very much to all the people who have explained in a lot of detail, why we have set the price as it is (basically as a product in itself for only £12 but also in such a way that S1+S2+S3=£36 so that, at least in this country that "total price" is at the bottom end of "full game prices"). Thanks also to those with more negative comments, they are interesting as well, excluding certain comments that were just too repetitive.
Just a comment on the price. In effect it's a bit less because we won't get a publisher taking 70% of it away from us, and on the other hand it's a bit more because it's not a game designed for mass market appeal. No way on earth could we think that it would be even remotely comparable with the GT series in terms of global sales. Of course we want it to sell well and try to make it nice for most people, but we make no compromise in our attempts at physical realism, we simply do not "dumb down" the physics so that a child could play, for example, as everyone here knows.
Please note that all banking charges and taxes are included in the price and just for information - those will add up to between 40% and 50% of the price (unfortunately for us but that's life).
The demo has kept many people busy for 8 months, and the S1 release has something more than 3 times the data content of the demo. So racing timewise we think £12 is kind of good value, in London this is about the price of 4 pints of beer or 2 pizzas.
I guess Europeans including us dev's are kind of scratching our heads as to why a small number of Americans are so upset about the price, we always hear over here that the USA is in the top 3 income per person in the world and also everything costs a lot less to buy, including living accomodation, leaving them with a large amount of disposable income. We don't need an answer to that though, we'll just scratch our head forever on that one i guess!
Anyway, remember that Live for Speed isn't compulsory, the free demo will always be available with online play enabled as well. I'll add that if we really do lose some sales to a few American people, well, we won't be losing too much sleep about that one, quite honestly that just doesn't worry us at all, we only want people who are happy with the price, to buy it, simple as that.
Our plan is that when S1 is released in a few weeks' time, the people who have got it, will report that it's everything they hoped it would be, and the game will continue to sell itself at that point.
Thanks to all, Scawen

Max

Was lehrt uns das...?

When its done or Winter 2067 !
